The North Okanagan Artists Alternative
MANDATE
1. The name of the society is the North Okanagan Artists Alternative.
2. The purposes of the society are:
a) To maintain a non-profit gallery for the benefit of the community as a whole,
giving emphasis to providing exhibition space for innovative and emerging artists
in the North Okanagan region.
b) To provide an organization which supports the professional development of
artists and which offers opportunities for the research, discussion, performance
and exhibition of contemporary art forms.
c) To address the ethnic, cultural and generational diversity of the community.
d) To establish positive relationships with visual arts organizations in
the North Okanagan as well as with educational institutions and organizations
in other branches of the arts.
e) To establish links with a national network of artist run galleries thereby
gaining access to a broad range of information and opportunities.
f) To offer affordable arts education and cultural exposure to local residents
of all ages and to visitors to the region.
g) To record and publicize the activities of the society.
h) To collect information about current artistic practise and related issues
in the form of books, periodicals, newsletters, catalogues, tapes and other
relevant documents as a resource for members and for the general public.
