About the Artist:
Born in 1931, Don Albert grew up on a dairy farm in northern Wisconsin. He studied at the Minnesota Bible College and at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1953 with a BA Degree.
After a stint as an assistant manager of a photography shop in Yellowstone Park, Albert became interested in photography and began to take many photographs of the park's beauty. He continues to explore nature through this medium to present day.
In 1953, the artist moved to Missouri with his new wife Carolyn. He worked as a pastor of a church therre until 1958 when he moved to British Columbia. For several years he worked as a church planter, pastor and Christian camp manager.
After moving to British Columbia, the artist managed a photography store in Burnaby for a couple of years and was a writer/photographer for the magazine "Western Homes and Living".
Albert and his family moved to Lumby in 1966 where he started the Lumby Christian Church and served as pastor there for 18 years. Don Albert and his wife Carolyn have remained living near Lumby for the past 42 years.
The artist began to paint in watercolour and acrylic in the 1970's and became a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
He attended several painting seminars at the Kootenay
School of Fine Arts.
Albert has taken photographs in all of the National Parks and in many of the Provincial Parks in the southern half of British Columbia and Alberta. His photographs and paintings can be found in collections in eight provinces across Canada, in ten US States, in England and Japan.
