Mellow Yellow: The 6th Annual
NOAA Members Open Exhibition

Mellow Yellow is both the title and the theme of this exhibition of works by Members of the North Okanagan Artists Alternative. Artists from Salmon Arm to Westbank and everywhere in between have submitted works for this much anticipated exhibition and opening event. We happily welcome two new members from Whitehorse have joined the alternative to be part of the excitement that is the Annual Members Exhibition.

The exhibition promises to delight viewers with a deluge of the fabulous colour yellow in all of its permutations. Works representing many mediums, both two and three dimensional, are on exhibition. Our members have taken the theme and they have run with it. The result is a riotous celebration of pure and muted versions of this primary hue. Many have explored the many associations the words ‘mellow’ and ‘yellow’ suggest and there is definetly a "groovy" feeling going on here.

Please join us for the Saffron Soiree on October 20th:

The opening reception, dubbed "The Saffron Soiree" will feature the electronic music of Justin Pasieka, as well as an sunny array of yellow edibles and beverages. We invite all to attend this free event. We ask only that you wear all the yellow you can mustard! (I mean muster). Join us for this fun event on Saturday, October 20th, from 7 to 9pm.

Louise Adams - Recent Mixed Media Work
Louise Adams
Louise Adams refers to her work as abstract, contemporary and experimental mixed media. The work incorporates bright colour, texture, strong contrast and line. Adams is a member of the North Okanagan Artists Alternative, Alternator Gallery, Kelowna Art Gallery and the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan.

"I have always had a love of art and always felt the need to express myself in a creative manner. I like to think that my work shows me as I am - at times a simple person with simple tastes and a love of line and colour, and at other times - much more complex and questioning." (Adams)
Vertigo Window Display: Julia Trops - Works in Charcoal
Julia Trops is a Kelowna Artist who works primarily in charcoal. The works presented in the Window Gallery are two-dimensional explorations of the human form. Trops holds a studio in the Rotary Centre for the Arts in Kelowna's Cultural District.

"My ideas incorporate my philosophy and understanding of life and space. My interests, which are currently manifesting in my expression, consist of a combination of concepts from time, space, and music...Alhough I am conversant with many media and supports, I primarily use charcoal because of its conceptual properties of earth and musk. This allows me to explore figurative shapes and form on a two-dimensional surface, with saturated values in a simultaneously bold and sensitive manner. The marks on paper become notational and gestural, and describe the human form or concepts in a musical, rhythmic style." (Trops)
