Biography
Laisha Rosnau is the author of the novel The Sudden Weight of Snow (McClelland and Stewart, 2002), the limited edition chapbook getaway girl (Greenboathouse Books, 2002), and the poetry collections Notes on Leaving (Nightwood, 2004) and Lousy Explorers (Nightwood, 2009). Her poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction have been published in journals and anthologies in Canada, the US, Australia and the UK, and her work has been nominated for several awards, including the Amazon/Books in Canada First Novel Award, the CBC Literary Award, the Pat Lowther Memorial Award, and the Pushcart Prize. Her first collection of poetry won the Acorn-Plantos People's Poetry Award.
Laisha was born in Pointe Claire, Quebec, and grew up in Vernon, BC, a place where she swore, on leaving, that she’d never return to live. Several moves, four books, and two kids later, Laisha felt the pull to be back in the Okanagan, broke the promise to herself and is happy that she did. She now lives in Coldstream at Bishop Wild Bird Sanctuary where she and her husband, biologist Aaron Deans, are resident caretakers. |
